Microcurrent Therapy

Microcurrent therapy generally referred to as MENS (Microcurrent Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation) is extremely small pulsating electrical currents. These electrical currents are fine-tuned to the level of the normal electrical exchanges that take place at body’s cellular level. Microcurrent is more biologically compatible than other electrical stimulation modalities (passing over the cell), with the ability to penetrate the cell.

Microcurrent follows Arndt Schultz law that states, “substances (electrical currents) vary in action depending on whether the concentration (current) is high, medium, or low. High concentrations kill; medium concentrations suppress or inhibit; and low, or minute (Microcurrent) concentrations stimulate. In other words, Microcurrent stimulates skin’s cells.

What Microcurrent Does

Microcurrent current normalizes the activity-taking place within the injured or otherwise compromised cell (aging).

The external addition of microcurrent will increase the production of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate), protein synthesis, oxygenation, ion exchange, absorption of nutrients, elimination of waste products, and neutralizes the oscillating polarity of deficient cells. Homeostasis (equilibrium) is restored.

The biologically micro-stimulation effect of microcurrent helps where the body’s own electrical current fails. Microcurrent will move around an injury, rather than through it. This movement normalizes cell activity, inflammation is reduced, and collagen-producing cells are increased. Healthy cell metabolism creates a healthy, pain free internal environment.

Microcurrent Heals

Double-blind studies by Lerner and Kirsch, on chronic and acute back pain showed an overwhelming effect of microcurrent over other modalities.

The body’s internal interactions within the body have been long understood by the medical field, but applying that knowledge has been slowly developed. Microcurrent has been used by doctors and physical therapists all over the world to heal injured muscles, tendons, wounds and many injuries for last two decades.
